Camden Barfly Coach Trip 5th Feb

As some of you know we are headlining Camden Barfly on Thursday 5th February 09 with support from our talented good looking friends Goodbye Stereo. We are organising a retrun coach trip from Newport Isle of Wight for this event, so if you fancy tucking in please read the details below.........

In order for us to get a clear list of names/numbers for this trip, and to make this fair for everyone, please e-mail the following address with your name and mobile number if you want a space on the coach:

The trip will cost £22 including entry to Barfly, its for over 16's only, and banter will nurdle 7.5 at least.

We can pick people up from Portsmouth on the way up to Camden in the afternoon around 4-5pm. We will be leaving Camden around 11.30pm, returning to Newport Isle of Wight via Southampton, then Portsmouth. We're catching the 3am Ferry from Portsmouth to home, Newport Isle of Wight.

'B Line' - the Single Campaign

Our debut single was released on the 27/10/2008 on Distiller Records.

The Operators would like to thank The team @ Distiller records, The Team @ Alan James PR and Cara @ Darling aswell as the ongoing hard work from the team @ B-Unique.

'B Line' achieved the following:

- Selling out the 500 Limited Edition 7"

- Playlistings on NME Radio and XFM A List, being BBC Six Music single of the week aswell as picking up plays on Radio 1's Jo Wiley show.

- Various reviews in several Music magazines and on-line publications most notably the Guardian newspaper.

Also a massive amount of love a big thank you to everyone who brought a copy of our first record.

Week 4 - Charlie's Playlist

Easy Playas. This weekend was an utter right off in camp Westropp due, in part to the influence of a certain 'Fizzy D' (our live visual maestro). On Friday night, at the age of 27 and 3 months, I, Charles Westropp and Daniel "Fizzy D" Williams (in the name of science and progress) went on a mutual quest for our own bodily limits - needless to say, half a glass of bitter shandy and a pork pie later and I was out for the count. The Fizz faired much better, still tucking in at 11am the following morning as I was leaving his house - superb effort. Hope you're all relishing the seasonal weather. It's absolutely perishing in Ealing. I've spent the last week or so huddled around my laptop for warmth/preparing phat beats for the very first Operators DJ Set. Consequently I think I'll find it quite difficult to whittle my choice of 'music I've been listening to' down to just three tracks.

DJ Set and copious intake of savoury food stuffs aside, we've also been working on a couple of new tunes for our forthcoming album. One band I've been listening to a lot lately is 'M83'. My flatmate James (of James Yuill fame - yeah he's my flatmate... get over it) very kindly lent me their album a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't stopped listening to it since. There's more than a hint of their epic 80's production to be found in some of the new shiznit that we're busting out (it's not stealing if their French). We're hopefully going to try and head back into the studio before the year's out and track a couple of them properly - a possible Christmas present via the medium of myspace for anyone who's interested...

Week 3 - Owen's Playlist

Owen - Hey Yo. How you all doing? Recovered from the weekend? Mental...

After a big night in Ventnor and our historic journey to the beautiful Hull, this week has transpired a lot quieter. Banter has returned to stable level and on a personal note my liver isn't green any more.

This down turn in pace has given us time to work on some new songs we have been writ ting. These should be ready for you to hear real soon but for now I will do my damnedest to describe -

New Kids On The Block, topped with Prince's mature cheddar, smothered in Mark Kings' "special sauce", grilled under Bootsey Collins' flaming funk and then server on the Queens second best china.

That probably doesn't make sense... Anyway here are a few songs I've been listening to this week.

Week 2 - Ben's Playlist

Ben Just returned from Hull after playing Saturday night @ club NME. We traveled up in a mini tour bus with guests Peter Westropp, Alex Perry and James Ellis. With these additions to our usually four piece - banter hit level 9 and remained constant throughout the evening. We discovered the culinary joy of Doner meat as a Pizza topping and chips seasoned with a blend of cumin paprika and cajun spices. The night culminated with a booze fueled dance into the early hours, we were lucky enough to be put up for the night ( Thanks to the lovely lass) settling down around 11pm responsibly gaining eight hours sleep before our return journey.

Week 1 - John's playlist

John After a heavy evening of drunken banter at Goodbye Stereo's halloween party last Friday, I thought it best to revive ones self by tucking into some excercise. I'll be honest, tennis has taken a bit of a backseat for me this year, no league matches or tournaments, its only fair to give the demographic a fair chance. I've mainly been tucking into a bit of swimming action, smashing up some serious lengths to aim for my goal of achieving 80 lengths in an hour. Is that achievable? I'd like to think so. 1.3 lengths per minute. I'll level with you, its going to be a test of stamina. This could get serious..... swim hat, waxing, trunks, or even one of those full body suits used at the olympics this year........watch this space.

We have had a busy few days this week what with the releasing and promoting of the single that came out on Monday. Thank-you to all that Pre-ordered your vinyl, we would hope by now you have all received them and given them a token spin before locking them away in your collectable closet.

If however you were not one of the lucky 50 to receive a signed copy then No Sweatsville Idaho because this weekend is second chance Saturday. Simply bring your - 7", CD, T-shirt, Photo, Birth Certificate or Grandma down to HMV IOW at 12pm, meet the band and get it signed.

To Celebrate the release of B Line and the forthcoming free gig with Does it offend you yeah, we were invited to perform a live session @ NME radio.

We Recorded the session yesterday at NME in South London. Two Songs from the session can be heard today at 4pm (28/10) on 87.7FM or Sky channel 0184.

HMV - Oxford Street (B Line 7")

Hello Everyone,

As you know our debut single 'B Line' was released yesterday. It is now available to buy on-line as well as a selection of Indie out lets and HMV.

We went to the Oxford Street branch of HMV yesterday to see our Record on the shelf. At the risk of sounding weak - one of us became excited, one became emotional and one of us was too busy checking out other releases. Also three of us brought our own single, one did not. Can you guess who did what?

Hello Friends,

How are you all doing? We were wondering if you could help us out with something.....

After a quiet night in with a bottle of Gordon's, we locked our minds to one of the trickiest conundrums out there - "What is the best guitar riff ever?" The front runners in our camp are Dire Straights "Money For Nothing", ACDC "Back In Black" and Guns'n'Roses "Sweet Child O'Mine". What do you think? Hey Guys,

Hope we are catching you all in high spirits. Just a quick message to let you all know about this new blog. We are going to start letting you know what we get up to in our spare time and prove once and for all we do have lives outside of The Operators. You'll find out about John's tennis tournaments, Ben's bush craft, Owen's building skills and Charlie's..... Actually, better not go there.
